As the warm months of travel season quickly approach, many consumers are beginning to plan a spring or summer vacation. Understandably, a travel club that offers introductory incentives and deeply discounted rates can be very alluring, that is until you find out you’re locked into a contract and aren’t even saving any money. This week’s Money Minute! cites a specific example of a travel club nightmare provided by one of our Money Coaching clients, and also lists ways to spot the red flags that indicate when you should walk away.

“Many consumers are having to dig even deeper into their pockets to pay the new fees that the larger banks are implementing on everything from debit cards to checking. If you’re being adversely affected by these new charges, there is always the option of switching to a smaller bank or credit union. This week’s Money Minute! explores the reasons for the new fees and weighs the pros and cons of switching banks.
We hope your employees find this helpful.”

We must always remember September 11, 2001. I hope we can all we reflect on this 10th anniversary of a horrific terrorist act and agree that America is still the greatest country in the world even with all the flaws and issues we are currently facing.
Let us not forget that we are still one nation under God. And that we must remain a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
The best way we can honor and memorialize those that perished and suffered on that fateful day ten years ago is to keep our connection to our heritage and legacy alive.
I give talks on the “American Dream” by reminding my audiences of that connection. We must never forget the 56 men who committed an act of treason against King George by placing their name on that most famous document the “Declaration of Independence”. They, along with the other colonists, fought for freedom and liberty and, in the process, changed the course of history.
I am completing a book called, “Yes, the American Dream is Alive and Well”. My book shares stories of success of Americans young and old from the 18th Century to current day who have achieved their “American Dream” with all the hurdles and challenges along the way. The commonalities they all shared was an unwavering faith in their country and their God and a determination that would never allow them to give up their dream!
This 235 year legacy has allowed us to survive countless wars and, yes, even acts of terrorism against our beloved country.
Someone once said that “The greatest resource on the planet is American ingenuity and Americans have 100% of it. “
This is why I believe that America is not going to roll over and die as many are predicting. In fact, I believe that we Americans have our best days ahead of us not behind us. It is not because of what our government provides, but what our citizens produce in the form of goods, services, and jobs.
No matter how hard the government tries to legislate and restrict our freedom and ingenuity, the American people and our free enterprise system and capitalistic society we have built over the last 235 years will always find a way to succeed and prosper.
Because that’s what we have done and will continue to do. We have a legacy to uphold, a legacy of all the Americans who have gone before us and sacrificed everything so that their children and their descendants would enjoy a better life. We must continue to pass that legacy along to our children and our grandchildren. So in the end, I am and will remain an eternally optimistic American Patriot!!!

The following article was sent to me by a friend. It makes a lot of since to me. I’m a firm believer that when something is wrong with my body, I need to look at the basics. What am I eating, wearing, putting on your skin and where do I work. I don’t believe in going to the doctor, except as a last resort. I’ll go to a nutritionist or chiropractor first. Health thru nutrition I believe to be the best place to start. Any way read the article below and decide for your self.
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY (‘TRY’, BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer
cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have
multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients
that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after
treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the
cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable
size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a
person’s lifetime.
3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer
cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and
forming tumors.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has
nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic,
but also to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing
diet to eat more adequately and healthy, 4-5 times/day
and by including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing
cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells
in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can
cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7.. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars
and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often
reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of
chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor
destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from
chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either
compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb
to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to
mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.
Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other
sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer
cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made
with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute
would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small
amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in
color Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the
gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting
off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer
cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based
diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat,
like chicken. Meat also contains livestock
antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all
harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole
grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into
an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked
food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live
enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to
cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance
growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building
healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most
vegetables including be an sprouts) and eat some raw
vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C)..
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high
caffeine Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer
fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or
filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap
water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of
digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the
intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic
buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By
refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes
to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the
body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system
(IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals,
EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy
cancer cells.. Other supplements like vitamin E are known
to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s
normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or
unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.
A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior
be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put
the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to
have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy
life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated
environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to
get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen
therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer
cells.
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave..
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don’t freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper. It’s just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Please share this with your whole email list…………………….
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
I learned this tip several years ago from a group of ladies that work at Silver Dollar City in Branson. It was a very hot and kind of humid day when I was walking around SDC. I noticed that all of the ladies were wearing these heavy period costumes. Of course the first question out of my mouth was “How do you stand the heat wearing all of that?” They looked and smiled and told me it was really simple. They soak the inner layers with water. Boy, how simple is that and its FREE!
A few weeks ago I decided to try it at my sons cub scout day camp. It worked like a champ. We each soaked our t-shirts then put the cub scout day camp t-shirt on over that. It was a little cold putting it on at first but as soon as we stepped outside, it felt really good. We went all day without a problem and only had to soak our shirts twice more.
In the Winter, my parents and scout leaders taught me to wear layers for warmth. Well you should still wear layers in the Summer, just soak the inner layer!
PS: A hat with plenty of ventilation and drinking lots of water (not sodas, coffee, tea) helps to.
Our youth are bombarded with credit card offers and applications as soon as they turn the legal age of 18. Without the proper financial training as to how to manage credit cards and how to identify all the conditions and financial traps inherent in most credit card agreements, how can our young college students possibly stay out of financial trouble?
The answer, of course, is they don’t! Many college students today are consumed with financials stress over their excessive credit card debt and student loans they will have to pay when they leave college. This stress is translating into many students dropping out of college to pursue jobs or parents who are often stuck with the debts, particularly when required to cosign by credit card banks.
The financial stress also manifests itself into physical problems such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, not to mention mental disorders associated with high stress.
At the same time, most college students today are not aware of what a low credit score and a large debt loan can mean for their chances of landing their first dream job upon graduation.
Let’s look at a typical job scenario. A management trainee position opens up for a large national company. With the unemployment rate still hovering close to or above 9%, there may be hundreds of applications from qualified graduates. The field is narrowed down to three equally qualified applicants.
How does the Human Resource Manager of the company decide who gets the job? Usually a background check is performed including drug testing and obtaining a tri merged credit report by the credit bureaus. Is the HR Manager going to hire the applicant with the lowest credit score or the highest? He will probably hire the applicant with the highest credit score because they represent less of a potential economic risk to the employer.
Employers understand the correlation between low credit scores, a high amount of consumer debt and student loans and financial stress. They know that increased financial stress and growing employee rage over financial issues and frustrations can and will negatively affect corporate bottom line profitability and increase liability concerns.
We at American Financial College Educators show students how to establish and/or improve their Credit Scores so they can be competitive in today’s diminishing job market. We teach simple financial skills and techniques in an interactive, skill based environment in which students can walk away with sustainable skills they can implement to find more money in their existing funds, accelerate debt reduction, and take control of their financial future. We sell no financial products, we just provide financial literacy training.

Financial Literacy has become a crisis of epidemic proportions in America today. It is defined as a set of financial skills and knowledge which enable individuals to make effective and informed decisions about how they invest and allocate their money.
This financial crisis is evidenced by the fact that 41 million Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and 19% of those earning $100,000 are living on the edge. Additionally, 15 million American use payday lenders every single month.
Washington CPA reports that Americans are spending $1.22 for every dollar they earn while the average American employee’s consumer debts exceed their annual income.
The current economic crisis has lost over 7 million jobs we have yet to recover. At the same time, American’s retirement plans have lost as much as $2 trillion since July 2007.
The Wall Street Journal reports that over 30% of U.S. households have no financial assets, and another 20% have insignificant holdings. While the average employee has just $18,750 saved for retirement.
This translates into many Americans who, although they are enjoying longer life expectancies than ever before, will probably outlive their retirement savings including Social Security.
Combine these startling statistics with the state of the worst housing market most can remember as one of six homeowners owe more than their home is worth. Foreclosures have jumped by 72% as various adjustable rate mortgages and job losses are forcing homeowners into delinquency and, in many cases, bankruptcy.
How did American get into this financial fix? Well, let’s examine how the average American learns the financial skills it takes to navigate the uncharted waters we are all wading in today.
Are they taught in their home by their parents how to make informed decisions about how they spend their money? Are they taught the benefit of saving at least 10% of their gross income? Are they taught the benefit of compound interest as an investment principle? Are they also taught how compound interest can work against them with an obligation like a credit card or another high interest rate debt?
The answer is, unfortunately, a resounding NO! And, before you start blaming the parents, how about the financial training available in our Churches, High Schools, Colleges and Universities? It’s very minimal at best. Even employers, who, as we said, are directly affected by employee financial stress as evidenced by negative bottom lines and increased liability issues, often do not consider providing employees with the proper Financial Wellness training they so desperately need.
Employees need to be able to get control of their spending. The money leaks are found in short term spending. You need to make better choices about how you spend money. They need to learn simple financial techniques they can implement immediately. This can only happen with a skill based, interactive format using the latest corporate learning methodologies. Employees retain what they learn by verbalizing the information before they leave the room. They will walk away with the skills they need to reduce financial stress at home and at work. They will also take positive steps to taking responsibility for their own financial future.
